Our thanks to our ECSNA Education Chairperson, Dr. Denise Makri-Werzen, PUBH:CH HP RN/MT(ASCP) CSN/HT Ph.D. MS BS for sharing the statement from Sung Poblete, PhD, RN, CEO of FARE on the approval of needle-free intranasal epinephrine delivery device, Neffy which can be viewed by clicking here.
Also, our thanks to Sandra Moritz, MEd, BS, RN, NCSN-E for sharing additional information about intranasal epinephrine in the quoted text below downloaded from the NASN All Member Forum of 8/13/24:
"Good News! Neffy (intranasal epinephrine) was approved for use by the FDA this week. The reduction in fear of needles, accidental sticks, ease of carry and training will all make school administration easier. It should be available for prescription in 6-8 weeks. Protocols for administration of stock will need to be updated to include the intranasal administration. The demo training device will be available also on their website which is being updated.
Best to all school nurses as they return to the health office!"
