Our CONGRATULATIONS to Dr. Cynthia Samuel, PhD, RN, CSN, FNASN, NJSSNA President, ECSNA NJSSNA County Liaison, for receiving the President’s Distinguished Service Award from Dr. Kate King, outgoing President of the National Association of School Nurses.
We also extend our CONGRATULATIONS to Sheila Caldwell, BSN, RN, CSN, FNASN for being awarded by NBCSN (National Board for Certified School Nurses) President Keisha Major for the work on the NBCSN JEBDI (Justice, Equity, Belonging, Diversity, and Inclusion) Taskforce at the NASN2025 Conference for their work since last year and the work that still continues today.

Target Audience:
This activity is designed for nurses, pediatricians, and other healthcare professionals dedicated to treating children and adolescents in a school setting.
Learning Objectives
After this activity, participants will be able to:
Recall insights and strategies for addressing students' physical, mental, emotional, and social health needs in a school setting;
Recognize how to address common physical complaints among children and adolescents at school;
Identify barriers encountered by school nurses when implementing interventions to improve student health;
State how to apply appropriate measures for treating and managing minor injuries and illnesses in school-aged populations;
Define the role of school nurses and other clinicians in conducting health screenings to detect health problems affecting learning early;
Describe strategies to address diverse health needs among student populations and promote health equity in schools;
Assess the intrinsic rewards associated with a career in school nursing;
Evaluate recommendations for maintaining personal health and managing burnout in the school nursing profession.
