In 2017, the New Jersey Department of Health (NJDOH) launched the Influenza Honor Roll (IHR) to recognize institutions that are striving to promote influenza awareness and prevention within their communities. Four categories of honorees are eligible:
-
Institutions of education
-
Businesses
-
Community-based organizations (including faith-based organizations and Local Health Departments)
-
Health Care Facilities
Institutions from these categories are encouraged to submit applications detailing their influenza-related activities that were implemented during the flu season. We are accepting submissions now until March 31, 2026. Possible submissions could include hosting a flu clinic, creating a flu prevention social media campaign, promoting, or creating a flu vaccination policy, etc. All institutions named to the New Jersey Influenza Honor Roll will be highlighted on the NJDOH website and will receive a certificate of recognition. For more information and campaign ideas, visit the NJDOH VPDP Honor Roll Website.
Although it is recommended to receive the flu vaccine before the end of October, it’s not too late to start planning activities and events to encourage flu vaccination in your community. August is National Immunization Awareness Month (NIAM), which is an annual observance to highlight the importance of getting vaccines throughout the lifespan. Consider promoting flu vaccination during NIAM since these activities can be submitted for inclusion in the Influenza Honor Roll.
Please find attached the campaign ideas packet and the additional resources list. The infographic is currently going through internal approval and will be available on the NJDOH VPDP Honor Roll website soon.
