What We Are Up To:

  • Wednesday, October 29th at 4:00pm in-person educational program: "From Collapse to Care: Managing Cardiac Arrest in the School Setting" at the West Orange Public Library. Please register for this meeting by clicking here so that we can send you our Zoom link. Presented by Michael Riley, Director, Resuscitation Education  

    Michael Riley has over 18 years of experience in emergency medicine and resuscitation. He has worked as a nationally registered paramedic in the pre-hospital and in-hospital settings. As an innovative leader, he is currently the Director of Cooper University Health Care's Center for Resuscitation Education & Community Engagement in Camden, New Jersey. Mike focuses on the importance of preventing cardiac arrest, promoting early recognition and management of a deteriorating patient, providing high-quality CPR, and ensuring the best post-arrest care. Mike has built a community engagement team to reduce the disparities in CPR, educate everyone on the life-saving skills of CPR, and teach them how to use an AED. Mike has worked to bring resuscitation education to underserved communities and is implementing an AED community donation program in partnership with the Cooper University Foundation to allow access to more public AEDs.

  • A dinner program is being planned for Bergen, Essex and Passaic County School Nurses in October sponsored by New Bridge Medical Center. We will keep you posted on the date for this program

  • Training Announcement : Fall 2025 Basic Course for Principles of Infection Prevention and Control

       Dates: Available October 6, 2025, thru 11:59 PM on October 20, 2025Virtual Access

       Place: (as recorded during April 2025 in-person course)

       (VIRTUAL) – registration opens August 18th! The Northeastern Infection Control Educators (NICE) Are Excited to   

       Announce a Refreshed and Condensed Virtual Educational Series. 

       This course is designed to provide basic information on a variety of infection control and prevention topics to                help prepare the new Infection Preventionist, or person responsible for Infection Prevention and Control, to                   perform the duties required in various types of healthcare settings.    

       Virtual access will be available only from October 6, 2025, through 11:59 PM on October 20, 2025. Prior

       registration is required and will be available only from August 18th through October 1st, 2025.

         If nursing contact hours are needed, you MUST follow the additional instructions provided in your registration confirmation email (additional, separate, registration for contact hours is required). Please see the attached flyer for more information.

         This activity was planned and developed jointly by the New Jersey Department of Health and the Northern and Southern New Jersey APIC (Association for Professionals in Infection Control and Epidemiology) Chapters.

       Learner outcomes include:

      Upon completion of this activity, attendees will be able to identify the major components of an Infection                          Prevention and Control Program.
